Gilbert C. Thorn 

  Gilbert C. "Gill" Thorn, 72, of RD4 - Box 238, Tyrone, died Monday, 
Jan. 14, 2008 at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital 
Campus.
  He was born April 4, 1935 at Camden-Gauley, W. Va. a son of Ethni 
Clay and Clarice (Stewart) Thorn.
  He was married Nov. 7, 1958 to Beverly J. Gunsallus.
  He is survived by his wife of Tyrone; a son James Clay Thorn and his 
wife Karen Brown Thorn of Lititz, Pa. and a daughter Suzann J. Thorn of 
Atwater, Ohio.
  Two grandchildren, Nathanael and Aaren Thorn.
  Three sisters, Mary Genette Duggin of Bradenton, Fla., Carolyn Murphy 
of Sugar Creek, Ohio and Sharon Spurling of Fredericksburg, Va.
  He was preceded in death by a brother Oliver and a sister Vivian.
  He was a graduate of Howard High School in Akron, Ohio and an Elder 
at Tyrone Alliance Church. A member of the N.R.A. and a former member 
of Gideon's and enjoyed woodworking. He will be remembered for his love 
and commitment to his family, his dedication to serving God and his 
church and his enthusiasm for hunting.
  He had worked for Akrotech in Kent, Ohio and retired from the Akron 
Coca-Cola Bottling Co. as an Electrician and Service Repairman in the 
Vending Dept.
  Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at 3 p.m. at 
the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Tim Miller 
officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
  Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. 
and one hour before the service on Thursday.
