Early this morning at his residence, No. 1702 Eighth avenue, Charles W. Tierney passed into death from consumption, from which he has been a sufferer for the past two years. Deceased was born in Germantown August 14, 1830, moving to Altoona May 12, 1865, and took up employment in the shops as a machinist. Married July 25, 1858, to Miss Catharine Cummins, ten children was the result of the union, of whom six remain, all living at home. Mr. Tierney was a veteran of the late war, enlisting in Company B, First Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry, April 9, 1861, and serving until June 11, 1864, when he was mustered out with honors. Always a devout Catholic, the funeral takes place Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, preceded by services at St. John's church. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Friday, April 12, 1889
