He was born in Altoona on Aug. 27, 1877, a son of Samuel B. and Susan Jane (Heidler) Tipton, and married Mildred Florence Heidler. Mr. Tipton was a member of Deliverance Temple and retired in 1945 as a storehouse attendant for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Surviving are his wife, eight children, Samuel G. of Philadelphia, John E. and Charles C. of Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Cleve A. McGarvey and Alonzo P. of Harrisburg, Mrs. Robert Balasco of Bristol, Mrs. Harold J. Sutton of Altoona and James W. of Dayton, O., 36 grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. William Conrad of Ontona, Minn., and Mrs. Walter Turner of San Diego, Calif.
