TIPTON IS SUDDENLY STRICKEN Stricken with paralysis in her home in Martinsburg, Mrs. Ellen B. Tipton, wife of Jacob S. Tipton, died at 3.45 o'clock. She was widely known throughout the cove and was the daughter of David B. and Mrs. Susanna Stoner, being born in Martinsburg on Jan. 26, 1861. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Clinton H. Paul, 615 Fourteenth street, Altoona; Miss Mary E., Albert H., and G. Ralph, all at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Mary Klepser, H. A. Stoner and I. G. Stoner of Martinsburg and A. H. Stoner, of Philadelphia. There are also three grandchildren, Grace, Lois and Mary Paul, of 614 Fourteenth street. Mrs. Tipton was a devoted lifelong member of the Church of God at Martinsburg and was a faithful worker in all branches of the church, being held in high esteem for her qualities of Christian womanhood. For more than twenty-two years, she was a teacher in the Sunday school and for the past two years had not missed attendance. One daughter, Iva, died in infancy and one son gave his life in France in the service of his country. This was David Merl Tipton, who was killed Oct. 5, 1918, while in action as a member of Co. G, 319 Infantry, Eighteenth division, along the Meuse river. His body was brought home and rests in the family plot in Fairview cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at the Church of God here at 10.30 a.m. Wednesday, the cortege leaving the house at 10:15. The Rev. E. F. Sipe will be in charge of the services at the church and at the grave in Fairview cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., March 10, 1924
