At twenty minutes of 6 o'clock yesterday morning Hannah, wife of E. B. Tipton, died at the family residence, No. 808 Eleventh avenue, from a complication of diseases. The deceased had not been in good health for some weeks past, yet despite the fact that she had long since passed the three score and ten years allotted to each one of us, her vitality was remarkable. Her sufferings were at times intense, yet were born with fortitude and patience. The maiden name of the deceased was Hannah Sneath, and she was born in Alexandria, Huntingdon county, on the 8th day of March, 1813. She was consequently aged 77 years, 8 months and 15 days. At Alexandria, in the year 1835, she was married to Mr. E. B. Tipton, who survives her. In the spring of 1862 the family removed to this city, where for years Mr. Tipton has carried on the business of undertaking. To Mr. and Mrs. Tipton there were born twelve children. Eight have preceded the mother to the grave, two of them giving up their lives in the defense of their country during the war of the rebellion. The four surviving children are: Mrs. Z. D. Miles, of Milesburg, Centre county; L. C. Tipton, yardmaster in the employ of the railroad company at BO office; David Tipton, an employe in the company shops, and Howard, residing at home. Two brothers of the deceased also survive her. They are George and John Sneath, and reside at Petersburg, Huntingdon county. Since her girlhood Mrs. Tipton was a member of the Baptist church, and since her coming to Altoona had belonged to the first congregation. The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services will be conducted at the house by Rev. N. C. Naylor, her pastor. The interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
