TIPTON Well known retired carpenter and lifelong resident of Roaring Spring and vicinity, died last evening at 8.35 o'clock at his home at 707 East Main street, Roaring Spring, following an illness of ten days, having suffered a stroke. He was a son of George and Susannah (Shoenfelt) Tipton and was born in Taylor township Aug. 19, 1855. He was united in marriage with Emma Rideout on Dec. 4, 1930, at Cumberland, Md. She survives, with one brother, William Tipton of Martinsburg. Mr. Tipton was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran church and of the I.O.O.F. lodge for over sixty-eight years. He followed carpentering most of his life until retiring and served on borough council several terms. Friends will be received at the home after 6.30 o'clock this evening. Tipton of 707 East Main street, Roaring Spring, will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in St. Luke's Lutheran church, Roaring Spring, in charge of the pastor Rev. O. E. Feeman.
