The Register, Hollidaysburg, Pa., Wednesday, April 24, 1872 AN OLD MAN KILLED. - John Tipton, an old gentleman aged about seventy- two years, was killed on the railroad, a few miles above this city, on Monday last. When he met his sad fate he was walking on the track carrying his son's dinner, who is in the employ of the railroad company as a track-repairer, and observing a freight train approaching, the old gentleman stepped over to the opposite track to let the train pass when he was struck by a westward bound train approaching him from the rear, knocking him down an embankment and killing him instantly.
