Tower, 84, of 317 23rd St., Tyrone died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003 at 11:05 p.m. at James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center. He was born Aug. 15, 1919 in Philadelphia, a son of Harry B. and Cora A. (Ward) Tower. On Nov. 28, 1941 in Elkin, Maryland, he married Vivian LaRue Lewis. She died Nov. 28, 1986. Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Drass and Beverly West, both of Duncansville, and Carol Ann Crust of Philipsburg; a son, Robert H. of Duncansville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Mr. Tower retired in 1981 from the Pennsylvania State Police as a mechanic following 19 years of service and was previously employed at the former Shope's Garage in Tyrone. He was a member of the Anderson-Denny VFW, Howard Gardner American Legion, Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company and the Bellwood Eagles. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the African theatre. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and enjoyed reading. Private graveside services at Bald Eagle Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangement are under the direction of the Feller Memorial Home in Tyrone.
