Leonard Troutwine, proprietor of the Pennsylvania hotel on Pennsylvania avenue, Tyrone, for many years and one of Tyrone's foremost citizens, died this morning at 5.30 o'clock at his home in the hotel, death being attributed to bronchitis. He was stricken one week ago. Mr. Troutwine was a native of Tyrone and was born on Oct. 28, 1861, the son of George and Catherine Ehman Troutwine and was associated with the hotel business all his life. He was united in marriage with Miss Frances Grove in Huntingdon in 1888, who survives. One son, Attorney Frank Troutwine, died twelve years ago. Surviving are three grandchildren reared in the home, Patricia, Christine and Franky Troutwine, all of Tyrone, and two brothers, John and William, both of Tyrone, and one sister, Mrs. Harry H. Gardner, also of Tyrone. Mr. Troutwine was a member of the old German Lutheran church but more recently of the Trinity Episcopal church. He was a member of Tyrone's old Hook and Ladder fire company, the Hotelmen's association, the Knights of Pythias in Altoona, the Junior Order United American Mechanics and the Elks lodge in Tyrone. Friends are being received in the parlors of the Pennsylvania hotel in Tyrone after 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Hand-dated October 2 Archie Claar Obituary Collection, Vol. 19, page 125
