Yesterday morning John Turner, son of William Turner, died after a few days illness with inflammation of the bowels. John Turner was a bright, active, strong young man, aged about 16 years. He took the position in McCoy's grocery store that was formerly filled by Mr. P. H. Walls, and during the short time he was permitted to attend to the business, made many friends by his kind words and obliging disposition. He belonged to the Baptist Sabbath school and was a member of the class taught by the pastor, Rev. H. F. King. His funeral will take place this morning at 10 o'clock from the residence of his parents on Spruce street, directly back of the seminary. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, June 12, 1880
