MRS. ELSIE C. VANORMAN

Wife of Joseph VanOrman of 308 Mosser street, Lakemont Terrace, died at 
the Altoona hospital at 7.05 o'clock last evening, the result of 
complications following a fracture of the right hip which she suffered 
last Friday in a fall at her home. She was 55 years of age and was 
twice married, her first husband, John Strong, having died about eleven 
years ago when they were residents of Tyrone. Surviving are the second 
husband, three step-children, Mrs. Harold Giarth, Paul VanOrman and 
Mrs. Edith Johnson, all of this city; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. 
Emma Shultzabarger of South Fork, Mrs. Ethel Hyle of Altoona and Paul 
Bowen of Akron, O. Mrs. VanOrman was born Feb. 18, 1878, at Cookport, 
Indiana county, a daughter of John W. and Prudy (Vonhartman) Bowen, 
both deceased. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal church and also 
was identified with the Altoona chapter, No. 290, O.E.S. The funeral 
will be held at the late home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in 
charge of Rev. R. Allen Hatch. Interment will be made in Fairview 
cemetery.
