VanScoyoc died at the home of his brother, Abram VanScoyoc, at Cold Spring Forge, Snyder township, Tyrone, at 9 Tuesday morning. He suffered from heart affliction and ailments incident to advanced age, but had been seriously ill only about two weeks. He had lived alone in the sixth ward of Tyrone for a number of years by his own choice, and it was only after much persuasion that he consented to go to the home of his brother last week. The deceased was a son of Thomas VanScoyoc, who has been dead many years, and was born in Antis Township in March, 1829, and would therefore have been 76 years old had he lived until next March. He is survived by two brothers, Abram and Theodore F. VanScoyoc. The latter is now suffering from an attack of pneumonia at his home on North Pennsylvania Avenue. The VanScoyoc family is one of the oldest and most favorably known of the community. The subject of this sketch, who was never married, was the eldest of Thomas VanScoyoc's children. The only sister, Mrs. Rebecca Cryder died some years ago. Her husband, also deceased, was Henry Cryder, well known in the community. William VanScoyoc at one time, conducted the business of manufacturing brick in town. He was a rugged, hard working man; lively, with something pleasant to say to everyone. His career was an honorable, and he passes to the grave with the full respect of many friends after spending a life among them of more years than are ordinarily allotted to man. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon. Services at the home where death occurred at 3 o'clock, by Reverend Frank Howes, of the First Baptist Church. Interment at Tyrone cemetery.
