At 5 o'clock Saturday morning, Mrs. Caroline Van Tries, wife of Henry S. Van Tries, died at her home, 713 1/2 Twelfth street, from apoplexy. She had been ill for some months past. She died during the early morning hours and the discovery was made by her husband, who arose about 7 o'clock, and on going to his wife's bedside, found that her spirit had taken its departure. She was born in Staunton, Va., April 30, 1827, and had been a resident of this city for about ten years, previously residing in Hollidaysburg. Her husband survives her, as does one son, Harry, of this city. She also leaves one brother, John Forbes, of Harrisburg. The remains were later conveyed to her son's residence, 428 Sixth avenue, where the funeral services will be held at 12.15 o'clock this afternoon, to be conducted by Rev. Henry Howard Stiles. On the 1.50 train the body will be taken to Hollidaysburg for interment, which will be made in the Lutheran cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, August 14, 1899
