We regret to record the death of this estimable gentleman, which took place yesterday morning at Scranton, Pa. The immediate cause of his death was an abscess in his stomach. Mr. Voris was well known to most of our citizens, having resided here for a number of years. He came to Altoona to superintend the construction of the Altoona Iron Company's mill; was subsequently made Secretary and Treasurer, then manager, of the mill up to the fall of 1876, when his health commenced to fail. In November of that year he went to Texas to spend the winter, hoping thereby to regain his wonted health. He returned to this city the following spring, having been absent seven months. He did not improve as much as he expected, and in the fall of 1877 he went to Pueblo, Colorado, to try the effect of that climate on his failing health. He remained there about five months, when he again returned home without much improvement on his general condition. He then removed from Altoona to Scranton, and engaged in the iron business, where he measurably regained his accustomed health. He had just closed his business in Scranton to engage in the iron business in Baltimore, where he was to have taken possession of the mill on the day of his death. Mr. Voris was about 50 years old, and a brother-in-law of Mr. S. J. Haupt, of the Motive Power department. He was a native, we believe, of Northumberland county, and his remains will be taken to Milton on Saturday afternoon for interment. Peace to his ashes!
