VOWINKLE On Friday afternoon last, November 20th, at 4 o'clock, whilst apparently in his usual health, Mr. Anthony J. Vowinkle, at his residence at Fostoria, suddenly fell over and expired - of disease of the heart. Mr. Vowinkle was born in Umstadt, Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, on February 6th, 18--, and emigrated to the United States in 1847 and located in Hollidaysburg, where he was engaged in the manufacture of soap until the year 1869, when he removed to Fostoria and has since resided there, devoting his energies to the cultivation of a farm and vineyard. He was quite successful in business affairs, and much respected wherever known, and leaves a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his sudden departure. The body was brought on the train, to Hollidaysburg, at 10 o'clock, a.m. on Monday, where it was taken in charge by Portage Lodge of Masons of this place, of which he was a member, and from the Depot to the Presbyterian Church, were services were held, The remains were taken to the Presbyterian cemetery, followed by many sorrowing relatives and friends, where they were interred with Masonic rites. Thus has passed away an affectionate husband and father, a kind friend, and a good citizen. Peace to his memory.
