He was walking between the tracks and stepped out of the way of a snapper directly in front of the passenger train. Owing to the fog and smoke, the engineer did not see the old gentleman until he was upon him. He was hurled for some distance, his neck, back, and left arm broken, and when picked up by the train crew was dead. The body was brought to this city and turned over to Lafferty and John to be prepared for burial. Besides his wife, who is critically ill, Mr. Wagner is survived by one brother and one sister, George Wagner and Mrs. Hannah Simmons, both of Cambria County. He was born Jan. 10, 1845, and had been employed by the railroad company for forty years, serving as a watchman for the past thirty two-years. The funeral cortege will leave the house at 8:30 Monday morning proceeding to St. John's Catholic Church, of which he was a member; requiem mass to be said there. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Saturday, September 26, 1908
