As briefly announced in yesterday's issue, John G. Waite, a respected citizen of Tyrone, passed to his reward about two o'clock yesterday afternoon, at his home on Washington avenue. About nine years ago he became a victim of inflammatory rheumatism, with which he had been a constant sufferer until death came to his relief. But a more patient sufferer would be difficult to find. Always with his trust in the Lord, never complaining but thoroughly resigned to his life of suffering on earth and patiently waiting until he would be called to his reward in eternity. He was a loving, tender and affectionate husband and father and his pleasant smiles and kind words will always be missed from the family circle. There is consolation for the bereaved family however, in the fact that he has gone where pain and sorrow are unknown, and is reaping the harvest of the good life sown while on earth. For the past thirty years he had been one of the most earnest, if not active, members of the Methodist church. The deceased was born in Sinking Valley June 29, 1824, being in consequence 67 years, 4 months and 13 days of age. On the 27th day of March 1850, he was united in marriage to Miss Isabella Henderson, of Spruce Creek, the Rev. George Guyer, deceased, officiating. They resided on a farm in Warriorsmark Valley until about seven years ago when they moved to Tyrone, where they have since lived. During his residence in Tyrone he made friends of all with whom he came in contact and his death will be sincerely mourned by all. Besides his grief stricken wife he leaves to mourn their loss three daughters, one brother and two sisters. The children are Mrs. F. L. Peck, of Warriorsmark Valley and Misses Maggie and Drusie, who reside at home. The brother is Abram, of this place, and the sisters are Mrs. George Walter and Mrs. Augustus Weakland, of Altoona. The remains will be taken to the Methodist church on Thursday morning at ten o'clock, where funeral services will be held, conducted by the pastor Rev. R. H. Gilbert and the Presiding Elder, Rev. B. B. Hamlin, D.D., assisted by former pastors of the deceased, Rev. G. D. Penepacker, of Clearfield, and Rev. George Leidy, of Huntingdon. The interment will be made in Tyrone cemetery. Friends of the deceased wishing to view the remains will be granted the opportunity tomorrow from two until nine o'clock p.m. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., Tuesday, November 3, 1891, p. 4, col. 1
