The dead man, was Jerry D. Walk, 22, of 513 Pennsylvania ave., Erie. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon R. Walk, Box 75, Tyrone RD 3, Vail. Blair County Coroner, D. Harold Troxell, said Walk died of severe head injuries. Injured were Lynn Drake, 21, of 210 Meade St., Northwood, and William Mills, 22, of Oak st. Extension, Northwood, a suburb of Tyrone. Police said the 1958 Chevrolet hardtop sedan was traveling south on Washington ave., and it failed to make the curve between Fourth and Fifth sts. The car crossed into the northbound lane and onto the sidewalk at 434 Washington ave., struck a tree with its left front, then a metal light pole head-on, breaking off the pole and knocking over the steel flasher speed warning signal. The vehicle, driven by Walk, continued on to enter the driveway of the Plisinskl Sunoco Service Station. There it stopped on its right side, facing north. The two injured youths were taken to Tyrone Hospital by the Blazing Arrow Hook & Ladder Co. ambulance. The Rescue Squad of the Citizens Fire Co. extricated the body of Walk. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the removal was supervised by the coroner. Drake is listed in fair condition at the hospital this morning, where a hospital spokesman said the family did not want the extent of his injuries divulged. Mills was treated for relatively minor injuries in the hospital's dispensary and discharged. The fatality was the first on borough streets since Feb. 2, 1964.
