All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ Benjamin Walker On Friday afternoon at 4.30 o'clock, Benjamin Walker, an aged resident of Tyrone, died at the Blair County home, at Hollidaysburg, of a complication of diseases. Mr. Walker was born at Thome Hill, Yorkshire, England, February 21, 1823, and passed away at the advanced age of 86 years, 1 month and 26 days. He came from Lancashire, England, to America, in 1849, and first located in the New England states where he became a textile worker in the New England Mills, which trade he followed for many years. He resided in Tyrone a long time and while here worked as a gardener and was widely known and highly respected. For the past six months, he and his wife, who is now in poor health, have been residents of the county home. In religious faith, Mr. Walker was a Presbyterian and was always happy when he was doing someone some good. He was a great bible student and passed away most of his declining years reading and studying God's word. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., April 22, 1909
