"Jim" Walter, 77, of Tyrone RD 2 died early Saturday morning at Tyrone Hospital. He was born in Bellwood, a son of the late Dale E. and Mary B. (Yohe) Walter. He married Sonya J. Williams on July 7, 1952 in Bellwood. Surviving are his wife, sons Paul E. "Bucky" Walter and fiancee Kim Carter of Bellwood and James A. "Andy" Walter, Sr. and wife, Cathy of Oxford; grandsons, Jared and Richard J. "Jamey" Walter, III both of Texas and James Andrew, Jr. of Delaware; a sister, Thelma K. Kruis and husband Bob of Bellwood; brothers Donald O. and wife, Marie of Bellwood, Lowell T. and wife, Louise of Franklin, and Francis G. and wife Rita of Texas; sisters-in-law, Jenny Walter of Tyrone RD 2 and Jo Walter of Pittsburgh and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Jr., brothers Dale E. Jr., George E., and Robert and a sister, Marjorie Walter. Mr. Walter retired from the U.S. Army following 20 years of service, serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. Jim was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Bellwood. He was a member of Kyoto Lodge F & AM, Japan and Altoona Consistory, Scottish Rite Bodies. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was a collector of antiques. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. However, friends were received from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service to be held Monday, June 25, 2007 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood with Pastor Richard L. Shildt officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. Expressions of sympathy in Jim's memory may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, Bellwood or a charity of choice. Tyrone Daily Herald, June 25, 2007
