He was born at Dry Run on May 25, 1871, a son of David S. and Mary (Norris) Walters, and was a cabinetmaker employed in the Altoona car shops. On July 23, 1898, he was united in marriage with Julia V. Shore at Shade Gap. Surviving are his wife, four sons and one daughter, John A. Walters of Greenwood, Mrs. Alice Neoma Rudisill, Ellis M., Ralph H. and Ira Eugene Walters, all of the city; seven grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers, Ulysses Walters and Mrs. Jennie Fought, both of Huntingdon, Mrs. Della Lake, Newton and Frank Walters, all of Shade Gap. Mr. Walters was a member of the Shade Gap Methodist church. The body may be viewed at the home after noon tomorrow. Funeral services for Howard Johnson Walters of 105 East Willow avenue will be held in the Shade Gap Methodist church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. The funeral cortege will leave the home at 11 o'clock Sunday morning for the church, following a short service at the home at 10.45 o'clock, conducted by Carl Frantz of the First Church of Christ.
