Walters died at the home of George W. Snyder at the Williams residence in Snyder township, two miles north of Tyrone, yesterday morning suddenly at 11.45 o'clock. Although able to be about he had not been in good health for some months past. The deceased was born in Prussia, January 25, 1819, and at death was aged 80 years, 8 months and 27 days. His parents emigrated to this country and settled in Chester county, Pennsylvania, when the subject of this notice was 6 years of age. He was a saddler by trade and has resided in this town and neighborhood for upwards of thirty years, and has worked at his trade at Williamsburg, Hollidaysburg, Philipsburg, and for many years in Tyrone until compelled to give up on account of age. He was a veteran and pensioned soldier of the civil war, a man of good education, a close and attentive reader and well informed on many subjects; retired in his habits and very reticent as to his personal relations. He has four daughters, supposed to be living, two at least in Altoona. A nephew, John C. Woodward, resides at 2904 Broad street, Altoona, who has been telegraphed to. Time and place of funeral to be announced later. Morning Tribune, Monday, October 23, 1899
