Mr. Wapner retired on disability as a selecter from the A&P Warehouse in 1967. Prior to that he had been a machinist for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was born April 9, 1921, in Ganister, the son of John and Helen (Pek) Wapner, and Nov. 9, 1946, in Altoona, married Gertrude A. Kimmel. Surviving are his wife and two daughters: Helen Stadelman of McMurray. and JoAnn, at home. Also surviving are four brothers and sisters: John of Rahway, N.J.; Michael of Clark, N.J.; Helen Pelak of Edison, N.J., and Ann Hilton of Beaver Falls. Mr. Wapner was a member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church, Williamsburg. He was a member of the Unter Uns, Brush Mountain Sportsmen's Association, Heldelberg Country Club, Bavarian Aide Society, Swiss Rifle Club and St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Stevens Mortuary. WAPNER - Requiem services for Joseph Wapner of 1201 Adams Ave. will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Chapel of Stevens Mortuary, 1421 8th Ave., by Father G. Andrew Matychak. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the mortuary, where parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Altoona Mirror, August 8, 1983
