Webb, a well known retired employe of the Pennsylvania railroad, succumbed to a heart attack yesterday afternoon at 1.10 o'clock at his home at 929 Second avenue, Duncansville, after an illness of only a few hours. For the past few years he served as janitor at the borough school building and he became ill there yesterday morning while preparing the building for the opening of the new school term on the coming Tuesday. Assisted to the residence of a nearby physician he was given treatment and when he appeared improved he was taken to his home in an automobile. Later he complained of pain and the family doctor was called. His condition failed to improve and he was claimed by death following an additional attack while seated in a chair in his home. Mr. Webb was active in the public and religious affairs of his home community over a long period of years, having served several terms on the borough school board and being superintendent of the Lutheran Sunday school for twenty-four years. Various special fraternal and community activities had his interest and support from time to time. He was president of the borough school board for several years. Born at McConnellstown on Sept. 23, 1858, a son of John and Sarah Webb, he came to Duncansville sixty years ago and there, in July, 1882, was united in marriage with Miss Ida B. Davis, who survives, together with the following children: Mrs. Harriet Fluke of Harrisburg, William J. Webb of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Effie Aiken of Toledo, O., Charles S. Webb, Russell H. Webb and Mrs. Nan Good of Altoona and Mrs. Cecelia Stewart and Mrs. Mary Miller of Hollidaysburg. Mr. Webb was at one time employed in the old Duncansville rolling mills, being a superintendent. Later, when the rolling mills suspended operations, he entered the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad in the Second street car shops, this city. He retired in October, 1934. He was a member of the Veteran Employes' association. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, being at the time of his death affiliated with the Duncansville congregation. he was also a member of the Mt. Horeb commandery, No. 141, Knights of Malta and was a leading member of the Duncansville P. O. S. of A. camp until it was disbanded several years ago. The body may be viewed at the home. WEBB - Funeral services for the late Robert S. Webb of 929 Second avenue, Duncansville, will be conducted by Rev. G. B. Harman, pastor of the Duncansville Lutheran church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment following in Rose Hill cemetery at Altoona. Friends are being received at the home.
