Two of Altoona's Most Aged Citizens Pass Away at Exactly the Same Hour This Morning. Residing within a few squares of each other, two of Altoona's oldest residents passed away this morning at exactly the same time, 12:50. George W. Weisgarver, aged 80 years, died at his home, 1408 Seventh avenue, surrounded by his wife and children, while at the same time the spirit of Mrs. Fannie Stout, aged 87 years, took its flight. She died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. J. F. Bikley, 1814 Seventh avenue. Mr. Weisgarver died from the effect of a stroke of apoplexy, which he sustained Wednesday night and from which he never regained consciousness. He was born at St. Clairsville, Bedford county, December 25, 1825. He came to Altoona in the year 1866 and has resided here since. In 1851 he was married to Miss Harriet Rogers, who still survives. Their golden wedding was celebrated a few years ago at their home. Six children of the seven which were born to the union survive. They are Flora Jane, Woods W., Rufus S., Annie E. and Charles C., all of this city. Mr. Weisgarver was one of the charter members of Logan Lodge No. 79, knights of Pythias, and was also a charter member of B.S. Davis lodge of Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a consistent member of Christ Reformed church of this city. He was employed by the Pennsylvania railroad company during the greater part of his life. He was placed on the pension list a number of years ago, being one of the first men to be retired in this city. He served during the civil war on the Union side, being a member of Company K, Seventy-ninth regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers. He participated in a number of important engagements. Private funeral services will be held at his late home Monday afternoon at 2:30. Interment in Fairview cemetery. . . . Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., September 15, 1906
