Weiss - Mrs. Eleanor C. Weiss, 89, Laurel View Village, Davidsville, formerly of Kutztown and Hollidaysburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at the village, following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1908, in Sinking Valley, the daughter of John Dean and Helen [Moore] Crawford. She married George D. Weiss July 5, 1935, in Sinking Valley. He died Aug. 8, 1979. Mrs. Weiss was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown. She retired as an English teacher from the Boyertown Area School District in 1967, after 14 years of service. She formerly taught in the Hanover School District and Bethel Township School District, Fulton County. Mrs. Weiss was a 1926 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1930 graduate of Wilson College, Chambersburg. She also attended Penn State University. Surviving are two sons: John C. of Johnstown and Robert S. of Warsaw, Ind.; and three grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. Weiss: Funeral services for Eleanor C. Weiss of Laurel View Village, Davidsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home by the Rev. Barry Vance. Interment at Arch Springs Presbyterian Cemetery, Sinking Valley. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. The family suggests contributions may be made to laurel View Village, 2000 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, Pa. 15928; or Arch Springs Presbyterian Church. Committal will be at Arch Springs Presbyterian Cemetery, Sinking Valley, following service at the funeral home. She was precede in death by a sister, Dorothy D. Crawford, who died Feb. 11, 1996. 1997 clipping _____ G. D. WEISS, RETIRED DEAN AT KUTZTOWN George D. Weiss, 76, of Kutztown R.D. 1, died Wednesday at his home. He was the husband of Eleanor Crawford Weiss. He was the dean of education at Kutztown State College for 17 years before retiring in 1968. Before that he was assistant supervising principal at Antis Township School and a former supervising principal of Bellwood-Antis Joint School, both in Blair County. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he was past president of the consistory. A 1926 graduate of Albright College, he received master's and doctor's degrees from Penn State. He was organizer of the proposed Saucony Cross Retirement Village, Kutztown. Surviving with his widow are two sons, John C. of Johnstown, Cambria County, and Robert S., Easton; a sister, Mary L. Nazareth; five brothers, Arthur J., Clearfield; Samuel E., Nazareth; Victor S., Athens, Pa.; John H., Bethlehem, and Robert J. of East Meadows, Long Island; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at his church. The Edward J. Hildebrand Funeral Home, 346 W. Main St., Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements. 1979 clipping
