At the hospital this morning at ten minutes past 2 o'clock, William M. Welsh, of Altoona, died of dysentery, aged 50 years. He was a carpenter and boarded at the McClain house, on Ninth avenue. He was taken to the hospital and admitted for treatment last evening at 8 o'clock, but the disease had so weakened him that he was past being cured. He was not married and has no relatives in this city. The news of his death was telegraphed to his sister, Mrs. E. B. Harkins, of Chambersburg, and until she is heard from no definite arrangements can be made for the funeral. The deceased has been a resident of this city for a number of years. Morning Tribune, Tuesday, July 4, 1899 Subjected to Post Mortem Examination. The remains of William M. Welsh, who died at the hospital yesterday morning, were subjected to a post mortem examination last night to determine the true cause of death. The physicians who conducted the "post" have not yet announced the result of their investigations. The body was turned over to Coroner McCartney yesterday and he communicated with a sister of the deceased at Chambersburg. The remains will probably be sent to Burnt Cabins, Fulton county, to-day for interment. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, July 5, 1899 Remains of W. W. Welsh Sent to Shade Gap. The remains of the late W. W. Welsh, who died at the hospital on the morning of July 4, were sent to Shade Gap by express yesterday afternoon for interment. The verdict of the physicians who conducted the post mortem examination was that his death was caused by dysentery. It was thought necessary to clear up the causes of his death became the deceased had his life insured for $2,000 and his legatee would have otherwise had difficulty in collecting the money from the company. His sister who resides in Chambersburg is said to be the beneficiary. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, July 6, 1899
