All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ CARL WENTZEL Carl Wentzel, of 207 Twentieth street, and a resident of this city for the last decade, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at his home, after being in failing health for the last year. He was born in Germany, September 16th, 1866, and was a member of a prominent family. His father served the Imperial government in various capacities and was at one time secretary to Prince Bismarck. About twenty years ago, Mr. Wentzel, who was widely known here as "The Count," located in Baltimore, working for the Western Maryland railway. Later he was employed at Harrisburg and in 1909, came here, being employed in the city engineer's office under Franz Engstrom and J. W. Shields. Two brothers, Dr. Max, and Herman Wentzel, both in Germany, the last the Altoonan heard of them, are believed to survive. He had no relatives in America. He had traveled extensively and was highly educated. The body may be viewed today at the Hickey & O'Neill funeral chapel. Tomorrow morning it will be taken to Pittsburg and cremated.
