WERTZ Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Young, at Hilltop, last evening at 8:15 o'clock, aged 77 years. He was born June 9, 1837, and was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Rickey of Butlerville, who with one son and one daughter, preceded him to the grave. He spent his life farming and retired many years ago from active labors. He served with honor in the Civil war in Company F, One hundred and Thirty-seventh regiment. He is survived by the following children: Annie and Mrs. David Denlinger of Iowa; Aden B. Wertz of Tyrone; Mrs. William Vipond of Brush mountain; Mrs. John Young and Mrs. James Graham of Hilltop; Bert, who resides on the family farm in the Loop, and Eugene. The funeral services will be held at the home of John Young at Hilltop Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Frankstown cemetery. Mr. Wertz was a loving husband and father and lived a beautiful Christian life. It was his greatest pleasure in his declining years to have his children about him and feel the strength of their love and affection.
