MRS. BERTHA E. WERTZ

  A resident of Bellwood for 52 years and more recently a guest at the 
Lutheran Home, Johnstown, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday in the Johnstown 
Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  She was born in Clearfield 
County March 5, 1883, a daughter of Thomas and Matilda (Hoover) O'Shell, and 
in 1905 married Wallace Wertz, who died in 1960.  Surviving are three 
children, Mrs. Gladys David of Altoona, Russell L., of Newport and Kenneth W. 
of Bellwood; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  She was of the 
E.U.B. faith.  Friends will be received at the Johnson Mortuary, Bellwood, 
after 4 p.m. today.
