CHESTER LEE WERTZ III 

  Mr. Chester Lee Wertz III, 57, of 561 Park Ave., Tyrone died Tuesday, 
Sept. 2, 2003 at 5 a.m. at his residence.
  He was born May 6, 1946 in Altoona, the son of Chester Lee and 
Lamintia Louise "Tiny" Snyder Wertz Jr. and on Dec. 24, 1976 was 
married to Linda Stroup, who survives.
  Also surviving are a daughter and step-son, Jessica Nicole Wertz of 
Tyrone and Chad Reese of State College; his father of Tyrone; a 
brother, Gary D. Wertz and wife Jackie of Tyrone; a niece, Ashley Wertz 
of Tyrone; a nephew, Christopher Wertz of Port Matilda, and a great 
nephew, Christian Wertz of Port Matilda. He was preceded in death by 
his mother.
  Mr. Wertz was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1964 and 
of Devry Institute in Chicago, Ill. He retired from the Tipton plant of 
C-Cor as an electronics technician.
  He was a member of Howard Gardner Post No. 281 American Legion, 
Anderson Denny Post No. 4559 V.F.W. and of the Blazing Arrow Hook and 
Ladder Fire Company.
  A memorial service for Chester Lee Wertz III will be held Saturday, 
Sept. 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church with 
Pastor Jay Jones officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park will be 
at the convenience of the family.
  Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard H. Searer Funeral 
Home, Inc.
  Contributions in his memory are requested to Tyrone Hospital, Clay 
Avenue, Tyrone.
