He was retired in 1937 from the airbrake shop after 40 years' service. He was born March 17, 1870, in the Loop section of Frankstown township, the son of William and Catherine (Mountain) Wertz, and on Jan. 13, 1898, married Lucy Brown, after which they resided in Juniata and Altoona. Mr. Wertz was a member of the First Church of Christ and the Rev. Walter E. Brown Sunday school class. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Ophie Juann Noss; one grandson, Dr. Gilbert R. Selders, now on the faculty at the Pennsylvania State college; and a great-grandson, Gilbert Roy Selders. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening.
