Wertz of 419 East Harrison avenue, died at her home of a complication of diseases resulting from a fracture of the hip received on Nov. 4. Daughter of Charles and Hannah McCarl Nepper. Born at Royer, Oct. 15, 1850. Married to Samuel C. Wertz, Feb. 1, 1871. Member of the Lutheran church all her life, belonging for many years to the First Lutheran church, the Woman's Missionary society; the Brenneman Bible class and the Ladies Aid society. Surviving are her husband, daughter Mrs. Lutie Sissler, son Charles Wertz and daughter Mrs. A. C. Tauber, Altoona: four grandchildren, Mrs. Fred Keith and Earl Wertz, Altoona; Donald Sissler and Mrs. Francis Shugert, Phoenixville; two great-grandchildren, Martha Virginia Sissler and Richard Shugert. A son, Homer, died in childhood. She was one of a family of thirteen children, of whom four brothers and four sisters survive: Alex Nepper, Tyrone; Mrs. Henrietta Lykens, Newry; Mrs. Sarah Brumbaugh, Aitch; Joseph Nepper, Altoona; Ernest Nepper, Conemaugh; Mrs. Fannie Mosel, Hollidaysburg; Mrs. Vene Isenberg, Williamsburg; Charles Edward Nepper, Cleveland, O. Funeral services were held her home this afternoon with Rev. M. J. Kline, D.D., officiating, assisted by Rev. J. T. Farnsworth. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.
