Wertz, 53, pastor of Trinity Missionary Church, Springfield, Ohio, a native of Altoona, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday, July 19, 1976, at his home. Rev. Wertz had been in failing health for the past eight months. He served as pastor of the missionary churches for more than 19 years. In addition to Springfield, he served in Greensburg and Phillipsburg, Ohio. Rev. Wertz was a graduate of Altoona High School and Bethel College, Mishawaka, Ind. During World II, he served as an Army medic. He was born Oct. 14, 1922, a son of Maxwell W. and Lillian (Hileman) Wertz, and married Norma Ort on Feb., 1952. Surviving are his wife, two children, Dennis, at home and Deidra of Springfield, Ohio, and a brother and three sisters, David, Mrs. Margaretta Russell and Mrs. Ethel Endress of Duncansville, and Mrs. Erdene Shoenfelt of Hollidaysburg. Friends will be received in the Williams Funeral Home, Springfield, Ohio, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., tomorrow.
