On Monday an accident occurred at Latrobe which resulted in the death of Miss Jessie West, whose parents reside in Birmingham. The young lady has been living with her uncle near Latrobe. She came to town and called upon a Mrs. Ferry, in whose the accident occurred. It seems the lady of the house was absent at the time, and while waiting in the room Miss West attempted to get a photograph off the mantelpiece. While reaching for it her clothing took fire and she was burned in a horrible manner. A gentleman who lives in the other end of the house heard the cry and came to her assistance. When he found her she was lying at the head of the stairs. He took a blanket and smothered the flames. But for timely assistance, the house would have been burned to the ground.
