Miller Westley, 88, of 1509 Perry Ave., Tyrone, died Wednesday morning, February 14, 2007 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born August 12, 1918 at Juniata, Altoona a daughter of the late John Elden and Lucy (Hill) Burkholder. She was twice married-first in June 29, 1941 to James A. Miller who died January 29, 1981 then in May 7, 1983 to Richard J. Westley who died February 11, 1998. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Miller Hardy (Len) of Carlisle, PA, a son Lee Miller (Joy) of Gilbertsville, PA, and a daughter Luann Miller Robison (Wayne) of McMurray, PA. Eight grandchildren, Kirsten Crawford (Wayne), Capt. Michael Hardy (Dee), Zachary Miller, Capt. Justin and Capt. Catherine Miller, Whitney Miller, Lyn Huertgen (Norman), Dawn Ellis (Dan), and Wade Robison. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Billie Fowler of Altoona, and two brothers, John and Charles Burkholder of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by a sister Erma Maillard. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and formerly taught Sunday School and was active as a Brownie Girl Scout Leader. She was a graduate of the Antis Township High School and Valedictorian of the class of 1935. She was a loving wife and mother to her family and was an avid reader along with her passion of knitting and crocheting. She was formerly employed as a machine operator at Big Yank Corp. for 33 years where she served as Shop-Stewerd for the Amalgamated A.C.W.A. Union. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Chaplain Mark Lilly officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. to the time of the service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1650 Clay Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
