Westley, 95, formerly of Altoona and a resident of the Presbyterian Home, Hollidaysburg since May of 1983, died at the home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2003. She was born September 2, 1908, in Hungary, a daughter of Nicholas and Julia (Vargo) Pfister. She was married October 23, 1925 at the First Presbyterian Church, Tyrone to Harry E. Westley, who died November 30, 1974. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Evelyn Drake of Deltona, Fla., Joyce Surplus of Largo, Fla., and John L. Westley of Altoona. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a son Robert E. Westley and a sister Kathryn Doherty. She was a member of the Altoona First Presbyterian Church and the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a member of the RSVP chorus. She received a Distinguished Service Award from the Blair County Commissioners in 1986 as a contributor of special gifts to Children and Youth Services of Blair County. She was employed as a secretary in the merchandise control office of Gables Department Store, Altoona, for seven years and then as secretary for William C. Stouffer at the Blair County Republican Headquarters, retiring in 1966. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 17, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home in Tyrone with Rev. Kathy D. Colebank officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home tonight from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to the Presbyterian Home, 220 Newry Street, Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648 or to the Blair County Association for the Blind, 300 5th Avenue, Altoona, Pa. 16601.
