Westley, age 73, of 463 Park Avenue, Tyrone died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at 7:35 a.m. at his residence. He was born Aug. 26, 1932 in Northwood, Tyrone, the son of Robert F. and Elizabeth Schnellbach Westley. On Feb. 13, 1953 in Winchester, VA he was married to Alice Noll who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cathy, wife of Daniel Stonebraker of Vail, RD 3, Tyrone and Elizabeth of Annapolis, MD; a daughter-in-law Tina Trimble Westley of RD 3, Tyrone; three grandchildren- Jed Stonebraker of Brookville, PA and Tarynn and Thaddeus Westley of Tyrone; and one great grandson - Tyler Westley Garner of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by a son Mark R. Westley on June 17, 2005. Also surviving are nine brothers and sisters- Marcia McCoy of Barlow, KY; Evajene, wife of Charles Shultz of Tyrone; Larry, Darrel, Dwight, and Linda Harris, all of Tyrone; Sharon, wife of Jerry Twoey of Philipsburg, Maureen, wife of Richard Kustenbauder of Tyrone and Kim Westley of Port Matilda. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Westley was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company and the Bavarian Aid Society of Altoona. He was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School and retired as a papermaker from Westvaco after 41 years service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-55 and saw service in the United States and Germany. He swam regularly at the Tyrone Swimming Pool where, for 50 years, he was a season ticket holder and he also enjoyed bicycling. He was an avid and faithful fan of Tyrone High School Football and wrestling. Funeral service for Joseph R. Westley will be Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Susan H. Yatta officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment in Blair Memorial Park will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hospice of the donor's choice or to the Tyrone Snyder Public Library, 1000 Pennsylvania Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
