ANN I. CREIGHTON Who formerly resided at 2116 11th St., died at 7 a.m. today after an extended illness. She was born at Mapleton Depot, a daughter of John and Alice (Long) Weston, and married John C. Creighton, who died Jan 5, 1959. Surviving are two daughters and a son, Mrs. A. R. Barnaby of Torrance, Calif., Mrs. F. B. Hyatt of Altoona and John C. of Bellwood; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Gleichart and Mrs. Lillian Mason, both of Altoona. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Jobal Court. Friends will be received at the Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Juniata. Services by Rev. FEATHERS Until recently of 617 Twelfth street, died at 6 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Boehm of 326 Twenty-first avenue. She was born in Pittsburgh on June 27, 1880. Surviving are the daughter; Mrs. Boehm, two sons, Edward F. and Thomas J. Weston, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. ALICE GODARD Mrs. Alice Weston Godard, died at 9 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred J. Gleichert, 1922 Sixth avenue, Altoona. Born at Mapleton February 25, 1859, She was a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Long. Members of the family include the following children: Mrs. D. F. Miller, Mrs. John Creighton, Mrs. Ralph Mason and Mrs. Marie Gleichert, all of Altoona; also 16 grandchildren, one brother, J. D. Long of Harrisburg, and a sister, Mrs. H. W. McDonald of Chicago. Mrs. Godard was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Altoona. Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. John L. Barnes of Saint Paul's Lutheran church, Altoona, at the family home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, interment following in Rose Hill cemetery, Altoona. Altoona Mirror, September 16, 1937 ________ LILLIAN L. MASON Of the Eleventh Street Tower, died at 5:55 a.m. today, Feb. 13, 1978, in Altoona Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born June 25, 1889 in Mapleton Depot, a daughter of John and Alice (Long) Weston, and Dec. 25, 1905, in Altoona married Ralph T. Mason, who died April 24, 1961. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Nussbaum, with whom she resided; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Marie H. Nedimyer. Mrs. Mason was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church. NEDIMYER Mrs. Nedimyer, 88, a guest of the United Presbyterian Home, Hollidaysburg, died today, Feb. 25, 1986, in the home, after an extended illness. Mrs. Nedimyer and her first husband, Fred, operated Gleichert's Clover Farm from 1935 to 1949. She was born Dec. 23, 1897, in Altoona, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Weston, and was twice married, first to Fred J. O. Gleichert, who died Dec. 23, 1949, then to Andrew J. Nedimyer, who died Dec. 29, 1984. Surviving are three children: Audrey M. Hostetler of Port Charlotte, Fla.; Shirley J. O'Rourke of Bellwood and Harold F. of Mobile, Ala.; two step-sons, Richard E. Nedimyer of Altoona and Robert V. Nedimyer in West Germany; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nedimyer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. WESTON Of 212 Lloyd St., died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 1978, in the Hershey Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was a clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring in1966 after 48 years' service. He was born July 3, 1901, in Ellwood City, the son of John and Josephine (Wheland) Weston, and on June 23, 1924 in Cumberland Md., married Elizabeth A. Africa. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Edward T. and Ernest R. of Altoona; four grandsons, six great- grandchildren and a brother and sister, Mrs. Nellie Boehm and Thomas J. of Altoona. WESTON Mrs. Weston, 83, of Blair Tower died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 1991, at Altoona Hospital. She was born Dec. 22, 1907, in Altoona, the daughter of Lawrence and Elsie (Brantner) Africa, and on June 23, 1924, in Cumberland Md., married Edward F. Weston, who died June 15, 1978. Altoona Mirror, May 8, 1991 ________ ERNEST R. WESTON Earnest R. Weston, 74, 611 Rutgers Lane, died Tuesday morning, March 6, 2001, at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Altoona, a son of the late Edward F. and Elizabeth A. (Africa) Weston. He married Margaret A. Musser in 1948 in Altoona. Mr. Weston retired as a clerk from the Altoona Post Office in 1989 after 30 years of service. He was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School. Mr. Weston was a member of the Retired Postal Employees Club and the Bavarian Aide Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a Technician 5th Grade, Co. B, 58th Signal Battalion, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Mr. Weston enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife; two sons: Robert E. of Montoursville and James R. of Altoona; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home by Rev. Brian Armen. WAS RETURNING TO TRAIN WHEN ENGINE STRUCK HIM Altoonan Was Hurrying Back to Post of Duty and Believed Track He Was On Was Clear. John Warner Weston, a well known Middle division flagman, running from this city to Harrisburg, was instantly killed at 2.20 o'clock this morning, when he was struck by Passenger train No. 10, eastbound, on the tracks one-half mile east of Iroquois station, which is located just east of Newport. Weston was a member of the crew of extra freight No. 1743, westbound, and when the train stopped east of Iroquois to let Train No. 9 pass, Flagman Weston left the train to attend to some private business and asked Brakeman A. R. Haverstine to tend to his duties while he was gone. Hit by Fast Express As he was returning to his train, after the No. 9 had passed, Weston evidently failed to notice the approach of No. 10 and walked directly in front of it, being instantly killed, and his body being badly mangled. The body was picked up by members of his crew and taken to Harrisburg, where it was prepared for burial by Undertaker Spicer, with instructions to ship it here later for burial. John Warner Weston was born at Huntingdon, May 13, 1856 and entered the Pennsy's service on November 3, 1890, as a brakeman on the Middle division. He was promoted to flagman on November 23, 1902, and has retained that position since. He is survived by his wife and eight children and was a member of the relief. Weston, the flagman killed near Iroquois, were brought to this city yesterday afternoon and conveyed to his late home from which the funeral took place this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, services being conducted at the home. Altoona Mirror Monday, August 19, 1912 ________ JOHN HENRY WESTON John Henry Weston, 52, of Canon Station, died at 11:50 o'clock Wednesday night at his home, of complications, following an illness of a year. He was born at Mapleton, son of John and Alice Weston, September 11, 1880. He was employed in the steel car shop of the Pennsylvania railroad. He is survived by the following: Mrs. F. B. Godard, Altoona, his mother; Josephine Weston, his wife; one daughter Mrs. E. J. Boehm; and two sons, Edward and Thomas, all of Altoona. Also the following sisters: Mrs. B. F. Miller of Mapleton; Mrs. J. C. Creighton, Mrs. Ralph T. Mason, and Mrs. F. O. Gleichert all of Altoona; five grandchildren. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the B. of R. T. and the PRR Relief. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Marion Justice Kline, from the home of his daughter Mrs. Boehm, 1515 Fourth Avenue. Altoona Times, Tuesday morning, August 25, 1903 ________ SAMUEL W. WESTON Samuel W. Weston, Altoona veteran of the World War, died at the government hospital at Chelsea, Mass., of pneumonia. Mr. Weston was gassed in France and had not been well since then. For some time he had been a patient at Chelsea. He was a son of John and Alice Weston, born in Altoona December 23, 1891. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Alice Godard, Mapleton, a brother and four sisters: John Weston, Mrs. John Creighton, Mrs. R. P. Mason, Mrs. Fred Gleichert, Altoona; Mrs. B. F. Miller, Mapleton. The body will be brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Creighton, 2116 Eleventh street, where the funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. WESTON 76, of Apt. 313, Green Avenue Tower, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 1980, in Altoona Hospital, following an extended illness. Mr. Weston retired as a machinist from the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was born July 14, 1903, married Elsie M. Lockard. Surviving are his wife, three children, Betty of Altoona, Thomas of El Monte, Calif., and John of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Nellie Boehm of Altoona. Mr. Weston was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He will repose from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the T. J. Stevens Funeral Home.
