Ezekiel Wherry 
Injured by a Fall Which Caused Death

  Ezekiel H. Wherry, a well known resident of Altoona, died Saturday 
morning at 10:20 at his home, 701 Lexington avenue, of congestion of 
the lungs.  His death can be directly traced to injuries received from 
a severe fall last Friday evening, at which he sustained a fracture of 
the arm.  Violent inflammation set in soon afterward, which gradually 
extended to the lungs, causing congestion from which he died at the 
hour named.
  Mr. Wherry was born Feb. 5, 1853, and has resided in Altoona since 
his boyhood.  He entered the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad 
company and by degrees worked his way up till he became foreman of the 
upholstery department, which position he competently filled for 21 
years, resigning about one year ago. For the past three months he has 
been running an upholstery establishment of his own at Greene avenue 
and Seventh street.  He was twice married; his first wife being Amelia 
K. Zahm, who died Oct. 30, 1900.  To this union there was one son, 
Russell, who resides at home.
  His second wife was Julia A. Levan, to whom he was married Oct. 14, 
1901.  Besides the above named son and his wife, he is survived by four 
brothers, William of Altoona; George and Frank in the west and Albert 
of Philadelphia.  He was a member of the Presbyterian church, Logan 
lodge, Knights of Pythias and Uniform Rank, Knights of Pythias, No. 20.
