Diphtheria, that dreaded disease, has been almost an epidemic in the little town of Saxton, Bedford county, and has claimed for one of its victims Flora I., daughter of Mr. George White, of Chestnut avenue, this city. She died on Sunday evening last, at the age of 10 years, at the home of her grandmother, in Saxton. Miss Annie White, a sister of the child's father and who recently visited in Altoona, was taken seriously ill with the same disease just after her return to her home in Saxton. Her condition for a time was very critical, but is at present somewhat improved. Altoona Tribune, November 12, 1885
