The diagnosis was uremia. At 10 o'clock Saturday night police had a call from a resident of Sixth avenue and Twenty-seventh street who said that a man was intoxicated and was lying on the steps of a porch across the street. The patrol responded and the driver found the man as told by the telephone message. Several persons standing about claimed to know nothing of the case but some one said he thought the man had been struck by a passing automobile. There was no pronounced marks of violence and as the officers detected the odor of liquor the man was taken to City hall and laid out in the cell room. At this time he acted as though in a half stupor. When he could not be aroused yesterday the attendants became alarmed and telephoned for an ambulance. He was taken to the Altoona hospital at 6 o'clock last evening, dying at midnight. Wicker was employed as a laborer about town.
