He was born on January 9, 1844 in Milroy, Mifflin county, coming to this city in 1894. He was engaged in the butchering business for seventeen years, conducting a shop at Eleventh avenue and Twenty-second street. Retiring seven years ago, he removed to Newburg. His wife, Maude M., an adopted daughter, Miss Helen May, and a brother, Jacob, of Reedsville, survive. He was a member of the First Methodist church. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon in the church. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Thursday, January 16, 1919, page 5
