James Williamson, an aged man who has lived with his grandson on Seventh avenue, between Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth streets, for some time past, died yesterday morning. A few days since he had a stroke of paralysis, from which he never rallied. Deceased had passed a long life, being about seventy-eight years of age. He was born in Maryland, but in early life moved to Washington, where he worked at his trade, helping to construct the capitol buildings. He afterwards resided in Huntingdon county for a few years, and then moved to Blair county in the days of the old Portage railroad. He helped to build many of the cars which ran on it, and had charge of a number of them. Since then he has lived in Duncansville until within a few years, when he moved to Altoona. He had only one child, who died long since, but his aged wife survives him. The funeral will take place to-day, and will leave in the morning for Duncansville. Interment at the Dunkard graveyard near that place. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, January 17, 1880 A Kindly Act. John Stiffler, who lives near the Dunkard graveyard above Duncansville, will long be remembered by the friends who followed the remains of James Williamson to the grave a few days since. Though comparative strangers he invited them into his house after the funeral and while they waited for the return train he entertained them, giving them a hearty dinner. It was a kind act and appreciated.
