H. Humphrys, at Johnstown, yesterday morning at 6 o'clock, of diseases incident to old age. She was the daughter of William and Martha Wilson and was born in Sinking Valley on March 15, 1841. She attended school in Blair county and later entered a private school in Ohio. She then taught a few years at Petersburg but returned to the farm when her mother died. After her father died she taught at Mt. Etna for two years and then came to the Miller building in Altoona where she taught school for about fifteen years. About sixteen years ago she gave up teaching and made her home with a sister, Mrs. Maggie Isett at East Liberty, Pittsburgh. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian church of this city and was the last of her generation. The remains will be brought to the home of S. T. Knox of 2626 Broad avenue today. The funeral services will be held at the Knox home at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning and the remains will be taken to Union Furnace on the 10.15 a.m. train. From there the cortege will go to Sinking Valley where short services will be held at the cemetery where interment will be made. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday Morning, April 2, 1918
