SCOTT WILSON, - of Altoona, was found dead in the lockup at that city last Sunday at about 8:10 in the morning. He had been arrested the night before in an intoxicated condition and placed in the lockup to keep him from freezing. The supposition is that heart failure was the immediate cause of his death. His habits of dissipation had run his vitality so low that the heart was unable to bear the strain. Deceased was a brilliant young man with a splendid memory, and in his boyhood days could commit page after page of literature by reading it over a time or two. His powers of oratory were of a high order, which made him popular on the platform or pulpit. For a number of years he preached in M. E. churches on different charges, but finally yielded to the cup. Soon he lost his standing in the ministry and commenced his downward course. His literary ability was beyond question, and he furnished articles for a number of papers. Just recently several of the Altoona papers published a poem of his in which he seemed to express a feeling of premonition of the approaching end. Mr. Wilson's boyhood days were spent on Shavers Creek near Petersburg where he grew to man-hood and where he received his common school education. New Era Journal, Wednesday, January 18, 1905
