Wise died of consumption at the home of his father, Mr. Jacob Wise, at Reservoir station, at half-past 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The funeral will occur on Monday morning at 9.30 o'clock. Interment at Geeseytown cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, February 14, 1891 HOLLIDAYSBURG HAPPENINGS. The funeral of Martin L. Wise occurred at Reservoir Station yesterday morning at half-past 9 o'clock. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, the Baptist church, where the services were held, was filled with the neighbors and friends of the deceased young man. The services were conducted by Rev. Owen James, who preached an able sermon. Mr. Wise was a member of the Baptist church of this place and for many years superintendent of the Mission Sunday school at Reservoir. He was also a member of the board of deacons, and probably the youngest man ever elected to that office by this church. Although only 25 years of age, he had by the force of an upright character and consistent Christian life attained a position of great influence in the community, and in a modest, unpretentious way accomplished much for the good of his fellow-men. Such a life is worthy of emulation.
