All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ OBITUARY WISSINGER, KATHLEEN (FOUST) - [PHOTO] Jan. 13, 1916 to April 20, 2008 Kathleen (Foust) Wissinger, 92, a devout Christian, joyful woman and homemaker, an admiring and beloved wife, a caring and supportive mother, nana, grandmother, great-grandmother, a loyal, gregarious and giving friend, and a woman loved and cherished by all who knew her, passed into the loving hands of God and her eternal rest at 2:05 a.m., April 20, 2008 at San Diego Healthcare Center, San Diego, CA. Kathleen was born on January 13, 1916 to Oscar Floyd and Mary Lela (Powell) Foust in Lake City, TN. On May 1, 1937, she married Walter James Wissinger in Detroit, MI. Walter was from Altoona, PA and like Kathleen, he was in Detroit in search of employment during the height of the Great Depression. After Detroit, they made their homes in Lake City, TN; Altoona, PA; Morgantown, WV; Ankara, Turkey; and in 1959, settled in San Diego, CA. Kathleen was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Walter, daughters Michele E. Witkoff, and Marjorie A. Hunter; granddaughter, Suzanne M. Nicholas; her parents; two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her son Colonel Allen R. (and Christa) Wissinger and daughter, Roberta L. Powers, both of San Diego; sons-in-law, Tuncay Pazarbashi of Istanbul, Turkey, and Daniel Witkoff of San Diego; sister Willa D. Victory of Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law Eubie (Dixon) Foust of Lakeland, FL, Helen Luckner, Shirley Ulrich, and Barbara (Tear) Wissinger of San Diego; brother-in-law Donn Wissinger, of Escondido, CA; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great- grandchildren. Arrangements are being made by the Greenwood Mortuary, San Diego, CA. Viewing for friends and relatives will be from 4 to 8 pm in the Tennyson Room at Greenwood Mortuary on April 24th. The memorial service will be in the Salli Lynn Chapel on April 25th at 10 am. Pastor Rodger Gredvig, Peace Lutheran Church will officiate. Committal will be with her husband at the Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, CA. A Reception will follow the Interment at the Peace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 6749 Tait Street, in Linda Vista, San Diego, CA.
