All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ JOHN WOLF Of 2815 Eighth avenue, one of the oldest employes of the Altoona & Logan Valley Electric Railway company, died at Altoona hospital at 7.07 o'clock last night following an illness of only a few days. He was at work last Thursday. He was born in Saarbrucken, Germany, sixty-six years ago, came to this country fifty-eight years ago and had been employed with the transit company for the past thirty-two years, his latest position being that of an engineer. He had formerly served for many years as a foreman. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rose E. (Barroner) Wolf, and these sons and daughters: Joseph S., Mrs. Dorothy Lindsay, Mrs. Catherine Porta and Mrs. Helen Robinson, all of the city; John Vincent of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Genevieve Minister of Williamson, W. Va., and Eugene T. of Altoona; these brothers and sisters, Otto Wolf, Mrs. Elizabeth Hoezle, Mrs. Mary Porta and Mrs. Katy Porta, all of Altoona; Mrs. Mag Campbell of Pittsburgh, and ten grandchildren. Mr. Wolf was a charter member of the Knights of St. George, the Sacred Heart branch, of the Sacred Heart Catholic church, and of the Altar and Rosary society of that church. Friends are being received at the home. Altoona Mirror, October 5, 1942 WOLF - Funeral services for John Wolf, of 2815 Eighth avenue, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic church Friday morning with a solemn mass of requiem at 9 o'clock.
