Mr. Nancy Woodcock, the aged mother of William L. Woodcock, esq., of this city, and Rev. J. A. Woodcock, of Williamsport, died last evening at half past 10 o'clock at her home on Washington avenue, at the advanced age of four score and ten years. She was born in Williamsburg, this county, her maiden name being Miss Nancy Love. Early in life she embraced the Christian religion and was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church for seventy-five years. The last fifty years she lived a most saintly life, "fervent in spirit serving the Lord," and died in the triumph of an uplifting and exultant faith. The last several years of her beautiful life were spent, as she often expressed it, in waiting - "waiting for her Master to come and take her home." Her marriage took her to Wells valley, Fulton county, where she lived a devoted, happy life with her husband, John Woodcock, esq., who was taken from her by death in 1874. She was noted for her sympathy, love and charity. There was no house of affliction in Wells valley into which she did not find her way and her presence was helpfulness, cheer and comfort. She was always sent for by the sick and dying and was most happy when she was relieving the afflicted, comforting the dying, sympathizing with the bereaved. She was a great reader and sustained her greatest loss when a few years ago her sight failed her, so that she could no longer read. She will be greatly missed by all, for of her it can truthfully be said she had no enemies. The funeral will take place on Thursday, October 23, at 2 o'clock p.m. from the First Methodist Episcopal church, this city. Interment in Fairview cemetery. Morning Tribune, Tuesday, October 21, 1890
